316H Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes & Tubes

The 316H grade is a high carbon modification of the austenitic 316H grade. The 316HH Stainless Steel Pipe is designed with a superior composition of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum with other constituting alloys. This gives the pipes enhanced resistance against reducing and corrosive media. The Stainless Steel 316HH Pipe works well in structural and pressure vessel applications that are above 500 degrees C. The non-magnetic gradeO has enhanced heat-resistant qualities. Apart from this, it has good short and long creep strength in stress-induced setups. 316HH Stainless Steel Tube has a density of 8 g/cm3 with a melting range between 1375 to 1400 degrees C. These tubes showcase superior mechanical properties along with thermal conductivity.

The components in the 316H grade are produced in seamless, welded, and ERW configurations. 316HH Stainless Steel Seamless Tube is a high-strength grade that is designed without any welds or seams as hot steel billets are passed through the extruded metal to form a single piece metal tube. The versatile ASTM A312 TP316HH Seamless Pipe is slightly expensive in comparison to welded pipes of this grade due to the material used in producing them. However, these pipes are widely preferred for use in applications across difficult terrain. The 316HH welded Stainless Steel pipe is produced as sheets or strips are welded in place to shape the pipe. These pipes are preferred in low to moderate pressure systems but are cheaper in comparison to seamless pipe grades. A SS 316HH ERW Pipe is manufactured as metal is rolled and welded longitudinally without the need for filler metal using high voltage electric current. These pipes are reliable and very durable for long periods. If you have any queries or questions about the 316HH Stainless Steel Tubing or our products, get in touch with us for more information..

Applications of Grade 316H Stainless Steel

The steel is common throughout industry particularly in food processing as the material is not susceptible to corrosion from acids found in common foodstuffs. As a consequence, such steel is ideal for items such as sinks, work surfaces, preparation areas and refrigerators. It is also a perfect material for use in the pharmaceutical industry for environments such as clean rooms.

Grade 316H can also be found in heat exchangers, chemical containers, pipelines and throughout the brewing industry. It can be used as a fabricated material where high temperature petroleum gases or steam production gases are stored such as pressure vessels. It can even be found extensively in the construction industry where the material is used for cosmetic purposes such as building fascias.

316H plate and pipes have similar properties and in certain cases are stocked with Dual Certification, where it is concluded that each item has properties and a composition which comply with both steel types. Grade 316HH cannot be included in this equation due to the steel's higher carbon content which is intended for use in elevated temperature applications.

316H Stainless Steel Pipes and Tubes Corrosion Resistance

Excellent in a wide range of atmospheric environments and many corrosive media. Subject to pitting and crevice corrosion in warm chloride environments, and to stress corrosion cracking above about 600C. Considered resistant to potable water with up to about 200mg/L chlorides at ambient temperatures, reducing to about 150mg/L at 600C.

316H Stainless Steel Pipes and Tubes Heat Resistance

Good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 8700C and in continuous service to 9250C. Continuous use of 316H in the 425-8600C range is not recommended if subsequent aqueous corrosion resistance is important. Grade 316H is more resistant to carbide precipitation and can be heated into the above temperature range.

Grade 316HH has higher strength at elevated temperatures so is often used for structural and pressure-containing applications at temperatures above about 5000C and up to about 8000C. 316HH will become sensitised in the temperature range of 425-8600C; this is not a problem for high temperature applications, but will result in reduced aqueous corrosion resistance.

316H Stainless Steel Pipes and Tubes Heat Treatment

Solution Treatment (Annealing) - Heat to 1010-11200C and cool rapidly. These grades cannot be hardened by thermaltreatment.
